Setting it up
How do I start?
Sign in at app.dekhbhaal.app with Google, or with Apple on an iPhone, and add your parent. The steps take one sitting.
It says I need an invite.
The first families sign up straight away. After that, the pilot is by invite: write to hello@dekhbhaal.app from the email you sign in with, and we'll add you.
How do I link my parent's phone?
In your parent's setup, show a code and type it on their phone. Or add their email, and they sign in with Google or Apple on their own phone, with no code. Once a new code is typed on a phone, the old phone is signed out.
The code didn't work.
Each code works once, within 24 hours. Show a new one. After many wrong tries, codes from that network pause for a while, so wait a little before trying again.
My parent signed in with Apple and it didn't find them.
If they chose "Hide My Email", Apple gives a different address from the one you added. Sign in again and choose "Share My Email", or use a code.
Day to day
My parent didn't get the morning message.
On their phone, notifications must be allowed for Dekhbhaal, and the phone needs to be online. Check Settings, then Notifications, then Dekhbhaal. On some Android phones, battery saving must also be turned off for Dekhbhaal, or the phone holds the notification back.
How do I change the check-in time, the waits or the voice?
In your parent's settings, on your side. Changes apply from the next check-in.
How do I add a maid, a nurse or an attendant?
From People, in your parent's view: add them, choose what they get, and type the code on their phone. Your parent is told.
How do I add my brother or sister?
From People: invite them with a code. They sign in with their own account and choose "Join with a code".
How do I remove someone?
From People. They are signed out at once and see nothing more. Your parent can also remove anyone from their own screen.
Can my parent type instead of speaking?
On a phone, Dekhbhaal is made for speaking. In a web browser, typing works too.
Your account and data
How do I get a copy of our data?
Write to hello@dekhbhaal.app from the email you sign in with, and we'll send you an export.
How do I delete an account?
Write to us from the account's email. Everything stops at once; three days later the account's key is destroyed and its data deleted. Signing in during those three days keeps the account.
Which languages can we use?
Hindi (in Roman letters or Devanagari), Hindi mixed with English, and English. Telugu is being tested with Telugu-speaking parents now. Each person picks their own screen language in their settings.
